The City Fire Brigade answered an automatic false alarm to Irvine and Stevenson’s Ltd in Filleul street at 3.35 p.m. yesterday. Machines went to the corner of Bay View and Prince Albert roads, at 5.31 p.m. to extinguish a blaze in a shed at the rear of a butcher’s shop. Only slight damage was done. A chimney fire at Victoria road, St. Clair, was extinguished at 7.38 p.m. A justifiable false alarm from the Chief Post Office was answered at 3.19 this morning
