FEES FOR MARRIAGES AND BURIALS INCREASED IN BRITAIN
(•N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent.; LONDON, June ‘23. Ecclesiastical commissioners have issued a new scale of increased fees for marriages and burials. Ministers in the parishes which apply for the establishment of the new table will receive 10s instead of 5s for a marriage after the banns, and clerks’ fees will be os instead of 2s 6d. For burial in an ordinary grave the minister will receive 10s instead of (is, and for tolling the bell the sexton will get 5s instead of 2s. For a new vault in a churchyard the minister’s fee will be £2l instead of £7 17s 6d. Fees to ministers for headstones or crosses, chains, railings, and fiat stones will be doubled.
