RAIN BRINGS RELIEF IN CENTRAL OTAGO

No restrictions, except that for five hours a day oh water-heating appliances, are in force for the time being in the districts served by the Central Otago Power Board, because sufficient rain fell in the catchment areas over the week-end to fill the dam at the Roaring Meg power station. The residents of the districts had been warned that the restrictions were a day-to r day matter, and depended entirely on the weather, an officer of the board informed the ‘Star’ in a telephone conversation this morning. Before the Weather broke, complete cuts for 3J hours a day had- been in force, and if there were heavy frost in the catchment areas it would probably be necessary to reimpose the restrictions.
