MEN’S HOCKEY

OLD BOYS RETAIN TROPHY

The High School Old Boys’ Hockey Club retained the Dawson trophy when it played its annual match with the Central Club, Invercargill, yesterday. In the first half Old Boys had a slight territorial advantage. L. Gurr scored with a good shot, and Old Boys led 1-0 at the interval. When play was resumed, Central attacked, and Simmers found the net to bring the scores equal. Then Swift put Old Boys in front with a brilliant <.shot. Play was exciting, and each team added another goal before the final whistle, the scorers being St. John, for Old Boys, and Simmers, who played an outstanding game. The final score was H. 5.0.8 3. Central 2.
