WAR SERVICE STARS

HUGE DISTRIBUTION IN AUSTRALIA

(Rec. noon.) MELBOURNE, November 5,

The Defence Department will distribute more than 1,000,000 Avar stars and medals to men and Avomen Avho served in the Australian forces. -The medals include the British Avar medal and defence medal, Avhich have not yet been designed, but the British War Office has already sent' the first 1,000 yards _ot medal ribbon to Australia for distribution.

More than 500,000 Australians will receive the 1939-45 Star. 113.000 the Africa Star. 17.150 the Burma Star, 391,250 the Pacific Star, 6,210 the Italy Star, 13.160 the France and Germany Star. 8,200 the Atlantic Star, and 1,200 air crew personnel the Europe Star. Ten Australians have qualified for the issue of five stars.
