ELECTION CAMPAIGN

MR FRASER AT BLENHEIM

PROTECTION FROM WORLD SLUMP PROMISED

(P.A.) BLENHEIM, Nov. 4. The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, received an enthusaistic welcome with musical honours from over 700 citizens of Blenheim to-night. (Referring to the policy of the National Party, Mr Fraser said there was nothing he could think of that the Labour Government had done that the National Party would undo. “I do not think,” he added, “ that any other Government in New Zealand ever had such an Opposition and such a chorus of approval.” Mr Fraser emphasised that, in the event of a world economic crisis, the Government would use all the powers of the State and all its credit facilities to protect the people of New Zealand from the worst impacts of overseas trouble. “We will see that no person ever goes short of things in this country,” he said. A vote of thanks and confidence in the Labour Government was carried with applause.
