FRIENDLY SOCIETIES

FORESTERS,

The ordinary fortnightly meeting of Court Enterprise was held on Tuesday evening. Past Chief ißanger Bro. Lancaster presided. ■■ There \vas a good attendance of members. Invitations were received from Court Pride of' Green Island and Court Pride of Dunedin. Bro. - Johnson reported on the “ 500 ” tournament, in' wliieh Court Enterprise was >the winner. Bro. Moss reported on. the cribbage tournament. The evening finished up with a game of euchre. Bro. Currie presented the prizes, the winners ; being Mesdames Moreland and Mason and Messrs Melville and Moss.

The thirty-ninth anniversary of Court Pride of Green Island was held on Wednesday last. The business part of the meeting was quickly dealt with by the C.R., Bro. HR. J. Carmichael. An invitation to a badminton evening. at Court. Pride of the Leith was accepted, and a team was chosen ,to represent the court. A welcome was extended to the visitors from city and suburban courts. The Foresters’ toast was duly rendered, and responded to by the various courts represented. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. A very happy anniversary was brought to a close with supper.

The fortnightly meeting of Court Woodlands Pride was held, with a good attendance of members. Invitations from several courts were received and accepted, and several members reported on visits to other courts during the past fortnight. The C.R., Sister E. Larsen, assisted by her officers, initiated one new member into the order.' After the business of the evening was concluded, a “hard-up ” social was held. Amusing costumes were worn, and the sisters spent an entertaining hour playing games. Supper terminated a pleasant evening. MANCHESTER UNITY. Final arrangements were made for the trump whist evening, to be held at the conclusion of Loyal Hand and Heart’s, meeting on Tuesday, November 19. _ As this will be the last function this year, the committee would like to see a good muster.
