COMIC OPERA SEASON

, t ■■ —i—- ‘ THE DESERT SONG ’ Last night’s performance of ‘The Desert Song’ at His Majesty’s Theatre cannot be described 'as other than most successful from almost every point of view. The theatre was again filled to capacity, the leading players, notably Miss Joy Beattie, were at their best; and the minor characters and chorus' contributed in no small measure to the enjoyment, the audience, derived from the evening. Of the ini nor roles, that of Sid El Kar, played convincingly by/.John Clements, was particularly worthy of mention. The ballets, designed by Betty Rounder, had the' ’authentic comic ‘ opera" finesse. The season will end on Saturday.
