LAUNCH TRAGEDY
EXPLOSION KILLS TWO SISTERS FOU3 OTHER MEMBERS FAMILY PARTY INJURED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, February 3. Two sisters were killed, and their father, mother, brother, and a friend injured when an explosion occurred on a launch in the Panmuro basin last evening. Tho victims were : KILLED. Daphne Frances Lyon, aged 19. Blanche Ysra Lyon, aged 17. Both were daughters of Mr and Mrs William Lyon, of 10 Panorama ■ road. Mount Wellington. INJURED. Mrs Blanche Lyon, aged 42. William Lyon, aged 49. husband of Mrs Lyon. Charles Lyon, aged 20, son of Mr and Mrs Lyon. Kevin McCarthy, aged 19, of 102 Main Highway, Ellerslie. Two ambulances were despatched to the scene about 6 p.m. and the six injured people were taken to the Green Lane Hospital, where the two sisters later died. William Lyon and McCarthy were treated at the casualty department and were later able to go home.
