BAILLIE STEWART CHARGED AT BOW STREET

EON DON. October 2u. Lieutenant Baillie Stewart (the olli cer in the Tower) was charged soon after his arrival from 'Brussels, and will appear at Bow Street Magistrate s Court at 10 a.m. on Monday. Two special branch Scotland Yard'men met the R.A.F. Transport Command plane, which arrived at Croydon from Brussels half an hour late, and drove Baillie Stewart to Scotland Yard, whore he was immediately transferred to a police van and taken to Bow street.

Baillie Stewart, who was pale but seemingly fit. is reported to have offered his services to the Allies, expressing the opinion that this would he “ a much more enlightened procedure than punishing him for any past youthful indiscretions.”
