INTERESTING EXPERIMENT
JAP. PRISONERS RELEASED TO ROUND UP STRAGGLERS (Rec. 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 17. In an experiment, possibly useful elsewhere in the Pacific, a large group of Japanese prisoners of war on Guam has been released to round up stragglers. These Japanese have been given intelligence maps and safeconduct passes. TJhey are under the command of a Japanese -officer, who volunteered to order in the Emperor's name all stragglers to surrender.
