THAILAND'S WAR DECLARATION
"NOW NULL AND VOID" (Rec. 8 a.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, August 17, The Japanese-operated radio at Bangkok reported that the Regency Council of Thailand has proclaimed that its declaration of war on Great Britain and the'United States is null and void and is not binding on the Thai people The proclamation contended that Thailanders combated Japanese aggression, and the declaration of war was contrary to their wish. The broadcast was issued in the name of King Ananda Mahidol, who has been in Switzerland throughout the war.
