FORMER CATHOLIC PRIEST (Rec. 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 17. The former champion athlete,*Jamee R. (Jimmy) Carlton, has left the Catholic priesthood and has married. Carlton is the holder of Australian sprinting records. He gave "up athletics in 1932 at the top of his career to train for the priesthood. He spent seven years in training .and -became a priest in 1939. Last April he was married in the Church of ""England. Carlton still holds the Australian 100 yards record of 9 3-ssec. In 1932 he ( went to New Zealand to compete against George Simpson; the! champion American sprinter, whom he beat over the 100 and 200 yards. In both races f-arlton equalled the New Zealand rfifiord.
