PEACE ISSUE RUSHED

PHENOMENAL DEMAND FOR' STAR' HAKY GENEROUS TRIBUTES An* extraordinary demand, unprecedented in the history of the \ Star,' was experienced last night when the special peace souvenir number was published. ■ Portraying, concisely but vividly in picture and story "an outline ;of the greatest war in history,, the issue captured the attention of the public, who literally rushed the boys selling it oil'the .streets, while the office staff was kept active responding to the demand over the .counter. In many instances-people bought the paper by the doaen, and statements were frequently made that copies were required to be sent to friends overseas, to. be kept for perusal by the men overseas when they return home, or to be held as reference for school children in the course of their studies of history. , Many spontaneous and generous tributes have reached this office regarding the. lay-out and selection of material, and the frontispiece, which was the work of a member of the staff, has been warmly praised. Although 35,000 copies were printed the 'demand was so great —it continued this morning—the ' reserve stock has been practically exhausted, and accordingly there will be a limited second printing, on Monday. Early inquiry may be advisable. Purchasers of copies can obtain wrappers free of charge, and single issues can be posted to any part of the Dominion or the. Empire for one halfpenny.
