COMMUNITY SING
VICTORY CELEBRATIONS V.J.-Day was celebrated at the weekly community sing in the Strand Theatre yesterday, when there was a very large audience. Patriotic songs were sung with gusto, and included the ‘ Star-Spangled Banner, 1 1 Thank You, America,’ and * Land of Hope and Glory.’ Members of the New Zealand University teams who are engaged in.thfe tournament in Dunedin were present, each University giving its own haka. The Otago University Band played ‘ Our Director.’ The collection, amounting to £IOO, was for the Otago and Southland war amputees,of this war and the last.
