WEST HARBOUR AFFAIRS
TO THK RD.ITOn Sir, —A few weeks ago 1 expressed an opinion that affairs concerning the youth of this district were in the doldrums Now 1 am more than ever convinced they have passed the doldrums stage and have entered the " deep depression," with no signs of an " anti-eydone " change approaching. My reasons for these remarks are:—(l) A committee was appointed prior to V-E Day to make arrangements for a fitting celebration for the youth of the district; (2) funds were collected and V-K Day has been and gone, likewise V-J Day has been and gone, and to date there lias been no celebrations for the youth of the district. 1 would like to know why these celebrations have not taken place, or when are they going to take place? In conclusion 1 must heartily congratulate our council on the splendid arrangements it did not make to commemorate V-J Day. With a little foresight and eommonsense it coufrl have arranged a celebration in our own district, and there would have been uq need for the large number of residents to go up to town to celebrate. Methinks it is about time there was some rejuvenation applied to affairs of the district, and the sooner the " anti-cyclone " change takes place the better.—l am, etc., August 18. Resident;
