SURF LIFE SAVING
NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS The New Zealand- surf life saving championships will be held at the St. Clair Beach * on Saturday and Sunday of next week. Twenty-two teams from all parts of New Zealand will compete in rescue and resuscitation six-man championships, four-man alarms, beltmen's championships, and individual surf races. Each day a feature "will bo a spectacular march past, always one of the most impressive sights at the meeting. The competitions consist of women s, senior, and junior events, and, in addition to canoe races, other beach novelties are being arranged. The opening ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, at 2 p.m., will be performed by the Mayor ■(Mr D. C. Cameron). The main 'attraction 'on the following afternoon will be the march past championship, for which the Bums Pipe Band will provide the music. *
