VALEDICTORY
MR H. J. DIXON, S.M. Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M., who presided at the Mosgiel Court yesterday, and who will retire at the end of the month, was farewelled after the sitting of the court. The Mayor of Mosgiel (Mr W. P. Hartstonge), on behalf of the local members of the fegal profession, and speaking as Mayor of Mosgiel, expressed regret at the retirement of Mr Dixon. He extended good wishes in a well-earned retirement from all associated with the local court. Mr R. L. Fairmaid endorsed the mayor's remarks, and offered the season's greetings. Constable Phillips spoke as clerk of the court and also on behalf of his police associate. . Mr Dixon, in replying, said that his relations with the local members of the legal profession, the clerk of the court, and the police had been most cordial, and it was with regret he left so many friends and associations. He had spent almost a life time in the duties of the Justice Department.
