OTAGO V. CANTERBURY HOME TEAM RETAINS BILTCLIFF GUP Play iu the two matches, senior and junior, between Otago and Canterbury Boys' Cricket Association teams, was continued and concluded at Carisbrook yesterday afternoon. In the senior match, Canterbury concluded jts first innings for 79 runs, Kiddey (20), Grammer (17), Brazil (12), and Jagger (12) reaching double figures. Smith took three wickets' for 21, Fagan two for 15, Berry two for 18, and Kitching one for 17. Otago made a good start, and, although the later batsmen failed badly, the total reached 104. Clark played a good innings for 47 not out, Varley made 16, Berry 15, and Kitching 14. Jagger, for Canterbury, came out with the good bowling figures of five wickets for 16 runs. Christie took two for 10, Kiddey two for 20, Grammer one for 6. Canterbury, going in again, knocked up 110 for the loss of five wickets, and declared. Delore got 42 not out, Baxter 34, and Brazil 16. Kitching took two wickets, for 6, Smith two for 31, and Berry one for 21. At call of time Otago had lost one wicket for 17 (Varley 10 not out; Delore one for !)• JUNIOR MATCH. Canterbury won the. junior match by an innings and 55 runs, the feature of the play being a well-made century by M. Chappie. Otago batted first, and compiled 61, McGregor (39) being, the only batsman to reach double figures. Bowling for Canterbury, Chappie took two for 4, Bailey two for 4, Humphries two for 9, McCaw two for 11, Anderson one for 2, and Burrows one for 6. Canterbury responded with 150 (Chappie 106; no other batsman reaching double figures). Veitch (four'for 14), White (two for 24), Christie (one for 7), and McGregor (one for 21) were Otago's most successful bowlers. In its second innings Otago was dismissed for 33 Poore (five for 3, Chappie (two for 3), Sherratt (one for 0), Bailey (one for 6), and Humphries (one for 9) taking the wickets.
