LOSS OF LAUNCH HOPE

PORT CHALMERS SEEKS INQUIRY

Although it is now six months since the loss of the launch Hope, there is still _no indication as to whether the Marine Department intends to hold an inquiry. The matter was again discussed at a meeting of the Port Chalmers Borough Council last night, when it was decided to send a further request for a departmental inquiry to the Minister of Marine. The Mayor (Mr- H. S. Watson) presided. "If a similar tragedy occurred tomorrow, nobody could be hold responsible," said Cr A. L. S. Cassie, who moved that a further request be made for an immediate inquiry into the ci/r----cumstanees surrounding the loss of the launch Hope, so that such an accident might be prevented in the future. " The time is ripe for an inquiry to be held," said Cr W. D.
