im TOWNS IN BURMA BAD WEATHER HAMPERS AIR OPERATIONS (Rec. 11.45. a.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 1. Taro, on the Upper Chindwin, has been occupied by Chinese under General Stilwell, a communique states. The Chinese forces in contact with the Japanese in the Taipha Ga area are clearing the enemy from the vicinity of the junction of the Tarung and Tanai Rivers. In addition to Taro, the Chinese also captured Kolun Ga, two miles east of Taro. In the Tiddin area the Japanese attempted to construct a new bunker position on the road from Tiddin to Fort White, but were dispersed with artillery. During the night a Japanese patrol made contact with our forces, who inflicted losses. Bad weather hampered air operations, but heavy bombers attacked the airfield near Rangoon last night.
