JOTICF IS HEREBY GIVEN that the ' Mosgiel Borough Council, pursuant to the powers enabling iL in that behalf, will, at a Special Meeting of the Council to be hold in the Council Chamber, Coronation Hall, Mosgiel, at 7.30 p.m. on MONDAY, the 2nd day of August, 1943, Make and Levy the following RATES and FEES for the period commenced on the Ist day of April, 1943, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1944, viz.:— A GENERAL RATE under Section 77 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, of TENPENCE ONE FARTHING in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the'Borough of Mosgiel. A SEPARATE RATE, to be known as the Lighting Rate, under Section 89 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, of ONE PENNY (Id) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel. A WATER'"RATE under Section 84 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, in respect of the ordinary supply as follows: On all lands and dwelling houses to' which water is supplied, a rate of TWOPENCE ONE FARTHING (2id) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of such lands and dwelling hous.es, but so that if such rate would produce less than ten shillings (10s) in respect of any'such land or dwelling house a charge of TEN SHILLINGS (10s) will be levied. On all lands and dwelling houses to which water can be but is not supplied situate within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate of ONE-HADF OF THE RATE ABOVE MENTIONED. A CHARGE of TWENTY; SHILLINGS (20s) for the first and FIFTEEN SHILLINGS (15s) for each additional water closet in private houses and other premises, and a charge of TWO POUNDS (£2) for the first and THIRTY SHILLINGS for each additional water closet in any hotel. A SANITATION FEE under Section 90 of tho Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, of TWENTY SHILLINGS (20s) per pan for the removal of nightsoil from all properties to which such service can be given and which are not connected with any public drain; and a FEE of SEVEN SHILLINGS AND SIXPENCE (7s 6d) for the removal of REFUSE from all properties as have a building erected thereon from which the Council is prepared to remove all refuse. A SEPARATE RATE, to be known as THE HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID RATE, under Section 54 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, of THREEPENCE THREE FARTHINGS (3Jd) in the pound (£) on it he unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel. Of the' Special Rate of THREEPENCE AND FIVE-EIGHTHS OF A PENNY (3|d),in the pound (£) under the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel made and levied to provide for the annual charges on the £16,000 Drainage and Waterworks Renewal Loan, ONE PENNY THREE FARTHINGS (ljjd) in the pound (£) only to be collected during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1944. Of the Special Rate of TWOPENCE ONE FARTHING (2Jd) in the pound (£) under the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel made and levied to provide for payment of interest and sinking fund on Conversion Loan of £9,500, ONE PENNY HALF-PENNY (l£d) in the pound (£) only to bo collected during the vear ending on the 31st day of March, 1944. Of the Special Rate of ONE PENNY AND ONE-EIGHTH OF A PENNY (l|d) in the pound- (£) under the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel made and levied to provide for payment of Interest and other charges on PUBLIC WORKS LOAN, 1938 (£3,000), THREE FARTHINGS (|d) in the pound (£) only to be collected during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1944. The above RATES and FEES to be payable IN ONE SUM and in each case on the 26th day .of AUGUST, 1943, at the offices of the Mosgiel Borough Council, Gordon road, Mosgiel, and an ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF TEN PER CENTUM (10 per cent.) will be imposed on all such rates and fees remaining unpaid after the 14th dav of MARCH, 1944. AND PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, the VALUATION ROLL of the Borough of Mosgiel and the RATE BOOK are Open for Inspection by all persons concerned at the office of the Mosgiel Borough Council, Gordon road, Mosgiel, between the hours of 9 o'clock a.m. and 5 o'clock p.m. daily, Mondays to Fridays.
