The American Navy Department states that in the South Pacific on Thursday, Avenger torpedo-bombers, escorted by Wildcat fighters,, bombed Japanese installations at Munda. Dauntless dive bombers, with Wildcat fighter escort, attacked Japanese installations at Vila, Kolombanagara Island. A building believed to be a power generating station was destroyed. Avenger torpedo bombers, escorted by Corsair and Wildcat fighters, attacked and sank 80ft Japanese vessels in Rekata Bay, Isabel Island. In the North Pacific on Wednesday formations of . army Liberator" heavy bombers, and -° Mitchell .medium" bombers, escorted by Lightning and Warhawk fighters, carried out eight attacks against -Kiska. Hits were scored on the Japanese camp area, damaging the runway and revetment area.
