THE SOCIAL DISEASE

DOWNWARD TREND OF FIGURES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 16. Figures were released yesterday showing the number of new "cases of venereal disease treated at the four main clinics during 1942, compared with the previqus three years. The figures are as follows: Auckland—

The Minister of Health. Mr Nordmeyer. said the figures crave a rather false picture of the present position,"as the totals were swollen by the fairly high notifications early last year. Even in spite of this a marked drop was evident in all districts, but in Auckland the downward trend, which showed itself in tin' latter part of tho year, was still being maintained in the current returns, and he was hopeful that this would continue right through the year.
