Baxter, Clutha County clerk, who left at the weck-eml lo join the Air Force, was, prior to his departure, entertained at afternoon tea by the office staff and presented with a leather hold-all, the best wishes of all accompanying the gift. Mr William 'Taylor, who died at Balchitlia at, the week-end, was a very wellknown resident of South Otago. He was horn at Kailangala 73 years ago, and for many years was engaged in the hulcliery Imsihess at Sliding, About 30 years ago he came to Balelulha lo reside, and carried on a market gardening business here. He never married, and is survived bv two sisters, Mrs D. Wallace and Miss Tavlor, both of Rosehauk. Balelulha. BOWLING. Dunng the Christmas, holidays members of the Balelulha Bowling Club "indulged in progressive pairs. On Friday the winners turned up in C. Gibb (loads) and W. May no (skips). On Saturday L. Scott, was I.ho successful lead, and W. Mathewson won the skips’ prize.
