BRITAIN GRATEFUL

DOMINIONS' WAR EFFORT MR CHURCHILL'S TRIBUTE OTTAWA, Dec. 29. Mr Churchill, at a Cabinet luncheon, declared that the nations and peoples who fought for freedom had at last reached the crest of the road and were now able to see what lay ahead. The struggle was bound to be hard and the road to be travelled might have some dips and breaks in it, but it was possible now clearly to see the destination of nations that fought for a free world. He asserted that Britain was grateful to the dominions, because there was one dark period when help and encouragement from the dominions was one of the mainstays which enabled the embattled islands to carry on the straggle.
