CATHOLIC CHAPLAINS
~ THREE CAPTURED BY ITALIANS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. Private advice has been received by Bishop Liston from Major Leo Spring, S.M., senior Roman Catholic chaplain with the N.Z.E.P., that three Catholic chaplains with the New Zealanders in Libya have been taken prisoner. Fathers E. Porsman, W. Sheely, and B. Kingau, S.M., are held by the Italians, who are showing every consideration and respect. Father Sheely was parish priest at Cambridge, and was through Greece and Crete. Father Foreman was assistant priest at Ormond, Poverty Bay. sailed early this year, and was chaplain at base hospital, Egypt. Father Kingau was formerly of Christchurch and St. Patrick’s College, Silvcrstrcam, near Wellington.
