—Ministerial.— The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry), who arrived in Dunedin yesterday at noon, was engaged on official business during tho afternoon and evening. This morning, in company with the mayor (Mr A. H. Allen), lie visited tho Centennial Memorial, and this afternoon ho inspected the fish hatcheries at Waitati. The Minister leaves for Invercargill tomorrow morning. Mr W. M. C. Denham, M.P., arrived from Invercargill by the through express yesterday. He returned south today. Mr 'Wallace Caldcr (president of the Whangarei Pipe Band) and Mr B. Horsley (president of the Kaitaia Scottish Society), the most northerly Scottish organisations in the Dominion, are at present on a visit to Dunedin. A Press Association cable message from London states it is understood that Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Longmore is on his way to Australia for important duties. It is believed that he will pay special attention to the Empire air training scheme. Lieutenant-colonel A. Stoncham left this morning on his return to Gisborne. Mr Cecil Jackman, the representative of Messrs Wright, Stcphchson, and Co. at tho Taicri, and the firm’s second auctioneer, who has resigned from tho company to take over the control of his (anil at llomahapa, was met by bis fellow-employees during the week and presented with a wallet of notes. Several speakers referred to Mr Jackman’s valuable services to the company during the past 16 years and to his popularity with both members and clients of the firm.
A social and dance under the auspices of the AVakari Soldiers’ Entertainment Committee were held in the School Hall, AVakari, to entertain Air G. Elliott, who is at present on leave after having been on active service with the Navy. Songs were contributed by Mr AV. Stevenson, and Alessrs L. Joyce and S. APConnell supplied dance music. Air G. Air Justice O'Regan was a passenger on tiic through express _ from Invercargill to Christchurch this morning. Air 1). T. AATight. of Rotorua, returned north by the express this morning. Lieutenant-colonel A. Stoneham. of Gisborne, was a passenger on the north express this morning.
