PICTURE THEATRES
GRAND Simple, homespun humour, excellent characterisation, and action-sustained direction mark the production of ‘ Scattergood Baines,’ which opened to-day at the Grand. Guy Kibhce, in the title role, dominates the film with his chuckle-provoking interpretation of the astute storekeeper. The plot concerns itself with Scattergood’s dream of upbuilding the town of Coldriver, and with characteristic shrewdness he succeeds in outwitting a firm of connivers who trump up a scheme to “ high-pressure ” Scattergood out of his own railroad and holdings.
