ROSLYN AND KAIKORAI RATEPAYERS

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The Roslyu and Kaikorai Ratepayers’ Association held its monthly meeting on Wednesday night, Mr P. L. Ritchie presiding. Correspondence was received from the town clerk advising that the association’s application for certain street improvements would have consideration when the allocations for the next 12 months were being made up. The following, works were sanctioned; The laying of a pipe across the footway to deal with the seepage from a bank in Garfield avenue; the clearing of the section owned by the council and adjoining the Kaikorai Valley bonding green. The attention of the inspector of nuisances had been drawn to the condition of the sections between Walton street and the Baptist Church in Taieri road, with a view to notice being served on the owner concerned. The repairs to the right-of-way ■ between Littlebourne road and London street had been completed. It was regretted that money was not available at tbe present time to form and tar-seal the footway in Lawson street,' although work had been carried out in widening the street and constructing a kerb and channel. The Automobile Association of Otago wrote stating that the formation of scenic motor roads around Dunedin, as advocated by the association, would be placed .before the executive for consideration. An anomaly in transport fares was referred to by a member. The fare from Rattray street to Roslyn square was Bd, he stated while the bus travelling via Ross street and Highgate to the same point charged 4(1.—1t was decided to ask that a uniform fare should be charged. The state of Scarba street, from City road to Leven street, it was renorted, had been left in an unsatisfactory condition, loose metal and stones being spread thickly. The formation of a footwnv from Manchester street c onth in Kaikorai road had been asked for.
