FOR TRAVELLERS
ARRIVING SPICK AND SPAN Different methods of locomotion give rise to special problems, and you’ll find that although the basis of your travelling beauty box remains the same as your routine beauty case, there are some things which can bo changed and some which cannot be omitted if comfort and good grooming are your aim. Since we have several means of transport to most pieces on this globe, let us take the newest one first, that is, by aeroplane. The main essential to remember, if you intend to reach your destination by this means, is lightness' and compactness, for space and weight matter very much to the authorities of the air, , Instead of a heavily-fitted beauty case, acquire one of those new and very handy little waterproofed silk bags, which can be bought anywhere either fully fitted or with small compartments into which you can put your favourite creams and lotions. Instead of a cream use a liquid preparation for cleansing the face and neck. It is much easier to handle and certainly less messy. There are several preparations on the market which not only cleanse and tone, but leave the skin, in most cases, ready for the npNeed it bo stressed that the makeup should be fairly light if the journey lasts more than a few hours, and an important point to remember is never to have jars or bottles filled to the top when flying at high altitudes. They will either blow their tops off or burst. This is something to do with air pressure, and if forgotten is likely to make your trip less pleasant than it should be. Train travelling can be done in comfort under practically any conditions if you have in your little beautv bag cleansing cream, skin tonic, and "lotion for bathing the eyes, also a firm hair brush. Unless travelling in an air-con-ditioned carriage there is no avoiding the dust and grit, which settles over everything. Very necessary is a clothes brush and a packet of cleansing tissues. You certainly can’t look fresh if your clothes and hat need brushing, and you’ll find innumerable uses for the tissues, from cleaning your glasses and your shoes to using as a towel. Cotton wool and a small bottle of eau de Cologne or lavender water are also invaluable.
