FIVE-YEAR-OLD DALAI LAMA ACCEPTED

The five-year-old Chinese boy, who was recognised last August as the fourteenth Dalai Lama, has been officially accepted by the assembly of leading Tibetans, according to a message from Lhasa. The boy, who speaks mandarin perfectly, is stated to have shown evidence of true reincarnation, and the possession of dignity and serenity. The late Dalai Lama died at Lhasa in December, 1933. According to Tibetan belief his spirit passed into the body of a child born at the moment of his death.
