MAURETANIA IN A LONDON DOCK.—When a huge steamer like the Mauretania bertha in the London Docks all the miscellaneous paraphernalia that is a feature of the magnificent organisation of the P.L.A. system is brought strikingly into play. Docks are necessary because of the 20ft tide range, out the difficulty is overcome by impounding, for example, about 245 acres of water to form the Royal Woolwich Docks, the largest in the world.
