IMPROVEMENT REPORTED [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 10. Cases of illness, especially influenza, continue to occur among the troops in camp at Papalcura and Ngaruawahia, and to-day there were 117 men in the Auckland and Waikato hospitals. The better weather, however, has resulted in a decided improvement, r and while fresh cases are still being reported from day to day, it is stated that there' is reason to hope for a return to normal hospital figures shortly. The influenza outbreak is not confined to the military camps. There has been an increasing number of defections from the staffs of city business firms. WELLINGTON, November 10. . As the result of the influenza epidemic in the Trenthara Camp Hie military authorities have commandeered the main grand stand and kiosk at Trentham race course and handed them over to the Wellington Hospital Board as an emergency hospital. There are 169 patients in the accommodation taken over. . CHRISTCHURCH, November 10. Arrangements have now been. completed by Major H. G. Livingstone, area officer for Christchurch, for Ihe notification of next-of-kin when soldiers at Burnham are admitted to hos 7 pital. . ■ Making this announcement. Major Livingstone said that the Red Cross Society would give clerical assistance in forwarding notification of illness to relatives. If a man was graded as seriously ill. his people would be notified by telegram. Rumours have been current in Christchurch that several men sent to hospital at Bottle Lake were seriously ill, but this is not so. • The reason for their transfer to that hospital was the shortage of accommodation in the Christchurch Public Hospital.
