GREAT NORTH CHINA TROUPE

Commencing, at the . matinee on Saturday next at His Majesty’s Theatre, International Varieties Ltd,, in association with Lau Fu Chung, will present the Great North China Troupe, Royal Command performers. A refreshing change from the stereotyped form of variety entertainment, these Oriental artists should be welcomed by theatregoers as something out of the ordinary.

Jugglers and balancers who defy all laws of gravity, acrobats who perform seemingly impossible feats high above the stage, contortionists who appear to hang suspended by the hair of the head, beautiful girls who spin in midair by their teeth—these are some of the thrills which are provided by the Great. North China Troupe. Herbert Young, an attractive youngster of only nine years of age, is described ns the Chinese Bobby Breen. He lias enchanted audiences the world over with his beautiful soprano voice, and his renditions of old English ballads are said to be a sheer delight.

Chinese artists are justly famous lor their magnificent stage settings and brilliant costumes, and in this respect the Great North China Troupe upholds the best traditions of Oriental art. The appearance .of Dr Wong and Theo in their interpretation of black, magic, together with the Chinese “ Pygmalion ” and Roy stem billed as England's “ Charlie M'Carthy,” go to make an entertainment which should find favour with Dunedin audiences. Booking arrangements are advertised.
