Berlel (N.Z.) Maintains Earnings
Elder, Smith to Make New Issue Except for a continuance of the demand for Government script there was little change to-day in the rather lifeless trend that has characterised business on the Dunedin Stock Exchange lately. Berlei (N.Z.) Limited reports a net profit of £10,666 for the year ended December 19, which is only £3B lower than the record earning of the previous period. Dividend is maintained at per cent. Stating that the expansion of the business has made it advisable to secure additional capital, the directors of Elder, Smith and Company Ltd., Adelaide, are submitting a resolution to shareholders that 50,000 unissued shares be forthwith offered to shareholders in the proportion of one to eight. The issue will be made at £6 a share.
