IRONSIDE WINS MORELLO FINISHES SECOND TROTTING AT FORBURY PARK Favoured with bright sunshine, the first day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s ’ Summer Meeting attracted a very large attendance, which included a large number of visitors from Canterbury and Southland. .Yesterday’s rain improved the track, and it was firm and fast without dust for the early races on the programme. 7ADXHALL HANDICAP, £200; second 35, third 15. Violet Wrack began very smartly and at once drew out well clear from Appomatox, and at the end or two furlongs Violet Wrack was .six lengths clear from Appomatox, with Esther, Patch’s Discovery, and Golden Bingen next*. Violet Wrack was eight lengths clear at the end of half a mile, but entering the last lap was only two lengths in front of Appomatox, with Jenny s Guy, Golden Bingen, and Shadeland racing in Close order three lengths further back. At the far turn (two and a-half furlongs, to : go) Violet Wrack ■was still in charge, two lengths clear of Appomatox and Shadeland, with. Jenny’s Guy closing up. Violet Wrack was first into the straight from Shadeland,” Esther, and Jenny’s Guy, the last-named wide ont. Shortly afterwards Violet Wrack broke, and Jenny’s Guy, catching Shadeland opposite the lawn' stand’, beat him home a short length, with Esther half a length away third- Violet Wrack, and Appomatox were next, the others beaten off. All went away well, with Pecunia the smartest to begin, and she was four lengths clear from Great Joy, Regal, Seascape, and Golden Miller passing the stand (two furlongs), where Waikari Jack broke badly. Pecunia led throughout the next lap, and entering the last lap was just in front of Charles Russell; Seascape, and Great Joy; who were racing abreast just clear of Dele Paix and Regal. The last named dropped' back at the end of a mile, and Dele Paix moved up on the outside of the field, and racing across ran into second place. The favourite was still in charge turning for home, with Dele Paix (on his wheel) and Sea* scape, Great Joy, Charles Russell, and Regal next. Halfway down the running Pecunia was in trouble when Dele Paix challenged, ■ and. the latter beat him by half a length. Regal finished fast a length away third, with gaps to Capri, Bed Rock, and Great Joy. Times: 3min 19 2-sscc, 3min 22 4-sseo, 3mn 22sec.

Roan Duke was a little slow to find his feet and Connenora led out from Walter Gay.. The latter took charge before entering the last lap, and led past the stand from Connenora, Labonnnan, and Racketeer. This order was not changed, and Walter Gay was nearly a length clear from Connenora turning for home, with Racketeer next. s Halfway down the straight Connenora challenged Walter Gay and beat him home a neok. All went away well, War Buoy leading Blair Athol, Plutus, Morello, and Ironside and they ran in this order for a mile and a-half. Going to the far turn the last time Willow Wave moved up to the tail of the field and led War Buoy into the straight, with Morollo, Ironside, and Plutus next. Halfway dowhSthe straight Willow Wave appeared to have the race in hand, but in the last 100?da Morello, Ironside, and Blair Athol joined him, and m a great race to the post "Ironside scored bv a short head from Morello, with Blair Athol a similar distance away third.
