35,000 ARRESTS
“SPONTANEOUS " DEMONSTRATIONS CONFLICTING STATEMEKTS LONDON, November 11. (Received November 12, at 1.30 p.m.) The ‘ Daily Telegraph’s ’ Berlin correspondent, referring to Dr Goebbels’s denial, points out that it is admitted that at least 200,000 police would have been required to protect the shops. It was also claimed that-the demonstrations were more of a radical nature. The apparent admission-of inability to maintain la*v and order conflicted with the statement that the'demonstrations censed immediately when that was ordered. It was also significant that the demonstrations started simultaneously throughout Germany. f Police headquarters declared that the Propaganda Ministry was bearing the whole responsibility, and adds that after the issue of the cessation order an elderly Jew was trampled to death. A children’s home at Isenburg was set on fire. It is believed that 8,000 Jews have been arrested in Berlin and 35,000 throughout the Reich. OFFICIAL PROTEST ATTACK ON MR CHURCHILL LONDON, November 11. (Received November 12, at 1.30 p.m.) The Associated Press diplomatic correspondent understands that the British Charge d’Affaires has been instructed to draw the attention of the German Government to the ‘ Angriff’s ’ attack on Mr Winston Churchill. Probably the House of Commons will be informed of the reply from Germany. ANOTHER OUTBURST BERLIN, November 11. (Received November 12, at 1.30 p.m.) The National Socialist Party ‘ Correspondence ’ again violently attacks Mr Churchill, describing him as “ warlike, a ruffian, and an arch-liar,”-
