MATCH DRAWN
AUSTRALIA V. ENGLISH ELEVEN RAIN STOPS PLAY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyrighi LONDON, September 6. (Received September 7, at 10 a.m.) The match between Australia and the English eleven was drawn. After two stoppages owing to rain the captains agreed at 3.20 to abandon the match. On resuming in the morning Barnett pulled and drove well before offering two chances to Valentine in the gully off Todd, the second of which was accepted. Australia was now 419 runs ahead, but M'Cabe did not declare nor did Waite and Fingleton score overrapidly. Play thus went on drearily and pointlessly, and the crowd welcomed Waite’s dismissal after he had taken 95 minutes for 42 runs. Fingleton’s 50 occupied 90 minutes. The Englishmen opened in cold weather. Woolley and Fagg batted as though they were only faintly interested.. Details: — AUSTRALIA. First innings 300 Second Innings. Brown c Levett b A.
