DUNEDIN BURNS CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING Alemhers of the Burns Club last evening were entertained by a varied and attractive concert at the monthly meeting in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. A brief welcome was extended to those present by the president, Air Arthur Macdonald, who was in tho chair. Under the baton of Lieutenant L. 0. Asten tho Otago Regiifiental Alilitary Band rendered a number of popular selections, wliich met with an enthusiastic reception from the audience. The numbers played by the band were ‘A Hundred Pipers,’ ‘ Alorning, Noon, and Night,’ ‘ Reminiscenes of Scotland,’ ‘ Wee Alacgregor,’ and ‘ Entry of the Boyards.’ The remainder of tho programme was as follows: Bagpipe selection, Piper Crighton; song, Mr Archie Jones; recitation, Aliss Leonore Alackonzie; song, Aliss Alary Somerville; pipe selections, Alastor Ardrie Stewart: Irish reel—Ellen APLachlan, Eileen Bovin, James Flett, Keith Cameron; song, Airs A. Batchelor; comic song and story, Air James Paterson; song, Air Arthur Alacdonald.
A playette, ‘ The Lady Specialist,’ was presented by the dramatic section of the St. Andrew’s Society of Otago, those taking part being Mrs R. 11. Dagger, M issos J. APVean, K. Watson, M. Dagger, ami Mr J. Jelferv. AI iss AI a vis AI acdonald played the necessary accompaniments in an accomplished manner, and Air Neil AUDonald carried out the duties of stage manager. At the conclusion of the concert an enjoyable dance was held, Air AI. Campbell proving an efficient AI.C.
