PERSONAL. Air and Airs Noel Edie, who have been spending a short holiday in Lawrence as the guests of Air and Airs Robert Edie, Irvine street, left for their home at Fairlie on Monday. Air William Kemp, who has purchased a business in Dunedin, will leave Lawrence at the end of the present month. FARMERS’ UNION. A special meeting of the Waitahuna branch of the Farmers’ Union was held to receive the resignation of the president (Air J. Rose). Tho vice-presi-dent (Mr J. Labes) was in the chair, and on tho motion of Air R. APCorkindale the resignation was accepted with regret, Air Rose will in future reside in Dunedin. Air J. Labes was unanimously elected president. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. Tlie AVaitahuna branch of tho Women’s _ institute celebrated its seventh birthday at a largely-attended party. Visitors from Lawrence, Heriot, and Alilton were welcomed by the president (Airs Walker). The evening was spent in games and competitions, and a Alaori party rendered songs. After supper had been served, Aire AValker called on Airs Varcoo (Lawrence) to light the candles on the cake, and on Airs King (Heriot) to blow them out. The cake was cut by Air J. AI. Rose (president of the Farmers’ Club). Air J. Walker (secretary of the Farmers’ Union) then took tho opportunity of presorting to Air Rose a wedding gift in view of his approaching marriage. GOLF. The following will play Tapanui on Saturday:—Al'Ara, Arthur, Fulton, Tompler, Jackman. Quiltcr, and Christophers; Alesdnmes Moore, Martin, Al‘Farlane, Christophers, and Alisses Hart and Lawes.
