DAY OF INTERCESSION

PETITION FOR INTERNATIONAL PEACE Organised by tho Council of Christian Congregations, a day of prayer was observed in Dunedin yesterday. There were large attendances at special meetings held in the Y.W.C.A. Hall in the afternoon and at First Church in the evening. The ceremonies were held to petition for peace amongst nations and to pray for the sticken peoples at present affected by warfare. The session at the Y.W.C.A. in the afternoon was conducted specially for women, and brief addresses on the Eastern and European situations were given by Airs H. Davies (Canton) and Airs W. N. Benson respectively. The president of the council (the Rev. J. E. Simpson) conducted proceedings at the prayer meeting at First Church in the evening.
