FUTURIST IDEAS FOR BETTER FILMS
A Futurist manifesto for the refop. mation of the cinema which has been published in Italy is'full of interesting suggestions. For instance, in order to give the im. pression of a man in anguish the film should represent a very rough sen, raging amid high cliffs. In a ■ love scene, when a man says to a woman, “ You are beautiful as a gazelle.” the woman ought to disappear and a gaaella take her place on the screen. The Futurist ambition of mastering spaces and words is well known. But how should be rendered on,: the screen. It is tall very simple; the film must represent a man holding in his hand a forest and having an ocean' in his eyes. It is not stated which of thf two will be the better. 1
