UNION BADMINTON
MORNINGTON AND KAIKORAI DRAW Excellent games were witnessed at the Mornington Court in St. Mary’s Hall last evening when Kaikorai (last year’s competition winners) met Mornington in their first match of the season, each team securing six wins. Towards the end of the evening, with two games to bo played, Kaikorai were two games in the lead and play became intensely interesting and exciting. Pickard and Nicol (Mornington) showed good form, and defeated Kennedy and Adcock 15-10, and Misses Douglas and Houston, after being well down for most of the game, made a brilliant recovery to win 15-12 against Misses M. Anderson and D. Adcock, thus making play even. The results were as follows (Mornington names first) : MIXED DOUBLES. Guv and Miss Douglas were defeated by Adcock and Miss B, Andersin, 15-13; Greenall and Miss Ashton were defeated by Kennedy and Miss C. Anderson, 15-9; Pickard and Miss Houston won against Gilchrist and Miss Adcock. 15-6; Nicol and Miss Greenall were defeated 15-14 after an exciting tussle by Fastier and Miss M. Anderson. MEN’S DOUBLES. Guy and Greenall defeated Kennedy and Adcock, 15-6; Nicol and Pickard defeated Fastier and Gilchrist, 15-8; Guy and Greenall defeated Fastier and Gilchrist. 15-2; Nicol and Pickard defeated Adcock and Kennedy, 15-10. LADIES’ DOUBLES. Douglas and Houston were defeated by B. and C. Anderson, 15-9; Ashton and Greenall were defeated by M. Anderson and Adcock 15-4; Douglas and Houston defeated M. Anderson and D. Adcock, 15-12; Ashton and Greenall were defeated by B. and C. Anderson, 15-2.
