WILL GERMANY REPUDIATE?
AUSTRIAN DEBT QUESTION LONDON WORRIED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, June 2. The City is most worried at the course of the Anglo-German negotiations over the Austrian debt question, as Germany is adopting the attitude that if pressed she will repudiate not merely the Austrian, but tbe whole foreign debt, including the Dawes and Young loans. Influential business men urge that Britain should impose exchange clearing restrictions against Germany if she defaults, thus depriving her of free sterling balances and aggravating her already great difficulties in obtaining raw materials. The Associated Press understands that the suggestion finds sympathy in Government circles, which are perturbed at Germany’s growing contempt of obligations.
