CONSTRUCTION OF AIR BASES JAPAN GRAVELY CONCERNED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright TOKIO, June 2. (Received June 3, at 8 a.m.) The Naval Spokesman said if Britain and America co-operate in developing air bases in the Phcenix and Ellice groups, as reported, Japan would be gravely concerned owing to their proximity to her southern islands, but no objection would be made to their use for civilian aircraft, though they could be easily converted to military needs.
