UNION AIRWAYS
THREE ADDITIONAL PILOTS [Special to the ‘ Star.'] WELLINGTON, June 3. Three additional pilots have been appointed to the Union Airways staff— Eric Griffiths (Wellington), John "Walker (Wellington), and R. L. M'Gregor (Featherston), the last being a cousin of the late Pilot M‘Gregor, He has already commenced duty at Palmerston North, while the other two, when their training in the Union Airways radio school is completed within a week, will also take up duty. The Civil Air Department, which formerly waived its night-flying competency certificate in connection with the B commercial flying certificate, notified pilots some months ago that this would be insisted upon when licenses were renewed. The requirement is now operative, pilots having also to be qualified in instrument flying up to a certain stage.
