INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM
EXCELLENT POSITIONAL PLAY SYDNEY, June 2. The Indian hockey team easily defeated Metropolitan (Manly) at the Oval by 6 goals to 1, after leading 3-1 at half-time. The weather was bleak and gusty, and incessant rain in the morning made the ground soft. Moreover, the tufty turf handicapped the Indians’ natural stick proficiency. The visitors were altogether too fast and nimble. The secret of their success was their splendid positional play. Their passes were invariably directed where they knew their colleagues would be. By contrast the Metropolitan passes were directed where it was hoped team mates would be. The visitors seldom chased, but often ran with the halL. Tho scorers were Sultan Khan (3), Ferozo Khan, Ahmed Khan, andLajput Rai. ' For Metropolitan Davidson opened the Scoring.
