Douglas Scott, a counsellor in the Foreign Office, has been appointed an assistant Under-Secretary for State for Foreign Affairs. SIR MAURICE HANKEY’S POSTS FILLED. LONDON, June 1. (Received June 2, at 11 a.m.) The posts formerly occupied by Sir Maurice Hankey will be filled by three men. Mr E. E. Bridges, son of the late Poet Laureate, has been appointed “ Permanent Secretary and Secretary of Cabinet ” ; Sir Robert Howarth has been appointed Clerk of the Privy Council, and will remain Deputy Secretary of Cabinet; and Colonel H. L. isniay has been appointed Secretary for Imperial Defence.
