DISPUTE BEFORE COHCIUATIOH COUNCIL (Per United Pbbss Association.j WELLINGTON, Juno 1. The hearing was commenced before the Conciliation Council to-day ox the coastal masters’ and officers dispute. Mr T. O. Bishop, the employers advocate. said the last award was made ns the result of a complete agreement. The Merchant Guild was now iproposihg practically to drop the classification agreed to for the northern district, in addition to seeking wage increases. Captain MTndoe, advocate for the masters and officers, said it could no be conceded that there was any real difference between conditions in tiie north and those in the south. The proposed alteration in the classification of vessels in the northern industrial district and the wages question were discussed, but no agreement was reached, and the council will meet again to-morrow.
